Reitox Academy on monitoring and control of new psychoactive substances, Tbilisi, Georgia

This Academy was planned following a request made by representatives of European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) countries to organise a special training session on challenges related to the monitoring and control of emerging threats in relation to new psychoactive substances (NPS). It was organised in the framework of the project ‘Towards a gradual improvement of ENP partner countries’ capacity to monitor and to meet drug-related challenges’ funded by the European Commission, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

The specific objectives of the Academy were to increase the participants’ awareness on the European Early Warning System (EWS), with the ultimate goal of initiating a partnership on the exchange of information on NPS, and to share experiences on legal practices for the control of NPS among experts from the European Union (EU) Member States and ENP countries.

The Reitox Academy brought together 27 participants, representing national monitoring bodies, national law enforcement agencies (Ministry of Interior and police, customs, Ministry of Justice), and national forensic laboratories from Azerbaijan (2 persons), Belarus (2 persons), Georgia (17 persons), Israel (3 persons), Moldova (3 persons) and Ukraine (2 persons).
