'Drug crime and markets: strategic analysis' is the focus of a training course being hosted at the EMCDDA in Lisbon this week in cooperation with the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL). The course will welcome around 40 law enforcement, customs and criminal justice officers from the Candidate and Potential candidates to the EU, European Neighbourhood Policy area beneficiaries, Latin America and the Caribbean and also the EU.
The EMCDDA and CEPOL have been jointly organising this flagship training course since 2017. The course, now ISO-certified, is organised in the framework of the ongoing EMPACT priorities in the area of synthetic drugs/NPS, cocaine, cannabis and heroin.
The course aims to:
- improve the use of strategic analysis of drug markets for decision-making on drug supply reduction and tackling drug crimes;
- enhance the impact of law enforcement and judicial response on organised crime and consequently on the security of EU citizens.
The course is targeted at law enforcement management (police and customs) in decision-making positions who allocate resources and/or direct drug-related organised crime operations, as well as at prosecutors/judicial officials.
