IPA7 Reitox Academy on report writing (Module 2: Policy and Prevention)

The IPA7 team, working together with the Reitox Austrian national focal point, is organising a training course on writing drug-related reports to support the partners in developing and/or strengthening the existing National Drug Observatories (NDO) and assisting national experts on core health and security indicators. The training started on 14 October and will involve monthly training sessions spread over six months. academy’s target group is the staff of the NDO, IPA7 National Coordinators (NC) and, where relevant, national experts contributing to the outputs produced by the NDO/NC.

The specific objectives of the training will be to better understand the basics of good report writing, the specific requirements of different types of outputs for different audiences and, in particular, what makes a good annual monitoring report. The course will also offer a broad overview of the EMCDDA key indicators, reporting procedures and tools (Standard Tables, Workbooks, Information Maps, ad hoc reports). It is expected that by the end of the training participants will be able to update the National Drug Situation Report in a self-sufficient manner.

The EMCDDA-IPA7 project aims to support the approximation to and adoption of the ‘EU acquis’ in the project’s partners in the area of Rule of Law and, in particular, in the drug information field. The overall objective of this training course is to contribute to an increased availability of routine monitoring data in the areas of both health and security in line with the project’s specific objectives.
