International Migrants Day

December 18 is recognised by the United Nations as International Migrants Day. Today, more people than ever live in a country other than the one in which they were born. While many individuals migrate out of choice, many others migrate out of necessity. International Migrant’s Day is an occasion to raise issues and awareness about migrants, to educate, to mobilise political will, and to celebrate and reinforce the achievements and contribution migrants make to society.
